Ithaca, the mythical homeland of Odysseus, remains refreshingly uncommercial compared to other Greek islands. Here, crystal-clear waters lap against pristine beaches like Filiatro and Gidaki, while traditional mountain villages like Stavros and Kioni preserve centuries-old traditions. The island’s famous hospitality shines through in waterfront tavernas serving fresh seafood and local specialties, complemented by wines from small island wineries. Whether you’re seeking adventure through coastal hiking trails and sea kayaking, or simply wish to relax by your private pool surrounded by olive trees and bougainvillea, Homer’s View provides the perfect base for experiencing authentic Greek island life.

Homer's View
Homer’s View, named after the ancient Greek epic poet, is located in Ithaca’s Northern most village, Kolieri. Kolieri shares the same hill-side as the ancient site of the School of Homer, known to be the location of where Homer wrote his epic poems of the Iliad and the Odyssey some 2,800 years ago. The School of Homer, more recently declared as the potential site of the Palace of Odysseus, is just a 10 minute hike from Homer’s View and shares the same magnificent view down to Afales Bay and the rolling hills of North Ithaca.
Despite the magnitude of what Ithaca represents to the modern world, it is a small and pure island, dotted with villages and small permanent population of less than 3,000 people. In the North, within a 15 minute drive from Homer’s View, one will discover the fishing villages of Frikes and Kioni, Stavros village, Polis Beach, Agios Giannis Beach, Exoghi Village and many other secluded coves and bays. The capital town of Vathis is a 30 minute drive away to the South of the island.
